TJ Shortt, a perpetual teenager, has been fascinated by the supernatural her entire life. She spends her days dispatching trucks and plotting out how to kill people… on paper. In 2010 she attended the Borderlands Press Writer’s Bootcamp. She enjoys participating in local and on-line writing groups improving her craft. She lives in the suburbs of Toronto with her husband and four-legged children.
Shiver Cove, Part 1: Tamyra
Tamyra never considered the family curse to be real. Seriously, who even believes in werewolves? Waking up, naked, in a stranger’s backyard sets Tamyra’s reality straight and it becomes obvious staying in the big city is no longer an option.
Desperate to protect her full moon secret Tamyra moves to mysterious Shiver Cove.
Being a painfully shy girl starting her senior year, Tamyra’s fears of being left an outsider vanish when she meets an alluring and popular guy. Unfortunately, a ruthless bully has her heart set on him too.
Despite bullying threats, Tamyra finds she’s falling in love and is unnerved by her hopes his intentions extend beyond just friendly.
Adding to Tamyra’s torment, a new darkness is terrorizing Shiver Cove. Could she be the thing stalking the streets of Shiver Cove or has something far more sinister than she can imagine come to town?
Shiver Cove, Part 2: Val
Shaken by suspicious deaths in Shiver Cove, Val begins his own investigation. Five teenagers have been brutally mauled to death and the police aren’t looking for a murderer. The incidences have been deemed as ‘animal attacks’ and it seems only Val and his friends are searching for the actual killer. Certain the attacks have been committed by a supernatural being, Val hunts for a creature he calls ‘The Beast’.
After discovering a warning to ‘stay away’, Val knows he’s on the right track.
Too bad supernatural crime solving isn’t the only issue to content with. Family drama and an unstable love interest further complicate his life.
With ominous threats, strange occurrences and bodies stacking up in the morgue, Val and his friends race to discover the identity of ‘The Beast’ and he soon discovers this could be the easy part of the equation. Keeping his friends safe and surviving could prove much, much tougher.
Shiver Cove, Part 3: Sandi
Recent ‘animal attacks’ in Shiver Cove have everyone on edge, but only Sandi and her friends realize the connection to an evil, creature they call ‘The Beast’.
Unlike some of her supernatural friends, Sandi is just a regular girl and she hates it. After failed months of trying to become a psychic medium, she decides to go in another direction. Secretly, Sandi begins to learn about magic.
When she discovers the concept of vision quests it seems like the perfect way to safely learn more about ‘The Beast’, although nothing ever goes smoothly in Shiver Cove.
The vision quest ends with Sandi in the hospital, leaving her explaining how she didn’t try to kill herself. Desperately she attempts to piece together any useful information from the vision.
Sandi pulls herself together just as the psychic side effects of her near-death experience begin to haunt her. Could her newfound abilities help in their quest to stop ‘The Beast’ or will she have to step away to protect the ones she loves?
